MATT CURTIS
Matt is an Edinburgh-based still life artist with a strong local reputation and a number of successful solo exhibitions to his name. He works slowly, only producing a limited number of paintings each year, meaning that his work is constantly in demand. Matt works exclusively in oils and specialises in small, contemporary still lifes, introducing a modern twist on a traditional subject by including miniature robots or Russian dolls alongside more conventional still life themes such as jugs and glassware,
Matt studied Illustration and Media Design at Edinburgh College of Art and began his working life as a freelance illustrator working mainly on illustrations for various agencies and companies such as the Forestry Commission. After a few years as an illustrator he began to experiment in fine art and his work is now highly regarded, hanging in private collections as far afield as Australia, Russia, the USA and Scandinavia. He has held several solo exhibitions with The Gullane Art Gallery in East Lothian, all of which have been near sell-outs.
