CLAUDIA PETRETTI

Claudia has a first class degree from Edinburgh College of Art and teaches drawing and painting part-time.

She travels extensively in Europe and it is this that inspires her work. Her paintings are a figurative recording of the colours, patterns, textures and rhythms found in the views around us depicted in a palette of rich blues, oranges and pinks - from the delicate facades of cafes and 'gelateria' to the pattern of archways discovered in a medieval Italian hilltown to summer gardens dancing with colour and inhabited with butterflies and birds. They are not directly representational but instead evoke the atmosphere of a particular view, providing the viewer with a visual reminder of somewhere visited.
